Patterns are common to formal poetry. Scansion is the analyzing of rhyme and meter. A letter is commonly places at the end of each line beginning with the first letter of the alphabet A for the first rhyme, and B for the second, etc.

Using letter to signify the rhymes is a great way to determine the pattern. If line one and two rhyme, an A would be placed beside them. If line three and four rhyme with each other but not one and two, we would place B's beside them. The pattern would be AABB. If line 5 rhymes with either, an A or B would be used. If it does not phyme, we would use a C.

Next, we are concerned with meter. Each line contains a set number of beats, usually two or three syllables. The most common beat is 'Iambic pentameter'. The individual beats consist of a short and a strong pulse. This beat is present in words such as 'arrest, domain, forsooth'. The accent is on the second syllable.

Time for the fun stuff! When you tell stories or write letters, how do you start? Is it maybe something you overheard, or read about? Or maybe something you witnessed? Start with something that is comfortable to you.

What kind of poem are you going to write? Would you like to do a character study or a story? The best thing to do is go through some examples. This will give you some ideas. Don't worry if you get a "writer's block." The best way to get past it is to take a break and come back the next day. Keep a pen and paper with you, something may come to you if your out.

Work on your poem for many weeks and take the last line of one of your poem and carry on from there, ignoring entirely what you drafted before. You will be surprised at what you are able to accomplish. Get writing!

The white player helped the blue player up saying "Hi, we'll see a lot of each other tonight". Throughout the match the blue player was totally ineffective. The white player with one single tackle had caused the blue player to loose his concentration and instead of playing his game was wondering when the white defender would tackle him again. The white player had in one action; won the psychological part of the game and consequently the white team won the match.

While soccer psychology works for the individual player, the entire team is affected by using soccer psychology. The players must buy into the concept that they are members of a team and individual play is part of the team effort. This team effort and the utilization of all every player on the pitch will provide team success as a whole. This team concept insures that the "stud" players do not need feel pressure to win every game by themselves. The stud player when confronted by a number of opponents must know they have the ability to release the ball to another team mate who has no opponents nearby and can help contribute to the team. At the surface level, 'purpose' and 'goal' seem to be very similar. In fact, my thesaurus tells me they're synonyms. It might appear that we can use them interchangeably. But in parsing the definitions of these words, we discover they're as different as night and day.

Goals are the specific objectives we strive to achieve, usually within well-defined parameters of space, time and resources. On the other hand, purpose is abstract. It's the 'why' behind any thought or deed. Purpose is not about achieving an objective it is more of a way of life. Purpose is enduring, whereas goals can be created, adjusted and discarded as needed.

Going beyond mere semantics, you can see the variation between purpose and goals in what you do at work. Goals can be the targets you set regarding the recruitment, retention, development and progression of your organization's workforce.

In contrast, purpose should be what the goals serve. You establish those targets to achieve a greater overarching aim, one that benefits the business and its shareholders.

For instance, you wouldn't bring in 1,000 employees just for the purpose of making your workforce larger, would you? Of course not. (At least I hope not.)

On the other hand, you might set a goal of bringing in these employees to prepare your organization to support its purpose and to ensure the success of an exciting new growth opportunity.

We often get lost and confuse our goals with our purpose, both with our companies and our families. I will never forget teaching a leadership development session in a Fortune 500 company that not only involved executives - it involved the spouses or partners of the executives. As part of the session, executives received feedback from their partners.

Many executives learned that their partners felt ignored or put in 'second place' compared with work. When the executives were asked, 'Why are you working so hard?' they invariably said, 'Because I want my family to have a great life.' Their partners almost always replied, 'We have more money than we will ever spend. We would just like to see you more!'

Many executives had clearly let their goal (make a lot of money) become more important than their purpose (create a great life for themselves and their families).

I bring this up because the distinction between a goal and a purpose sometimes can be lost on talent management professionals - we can get so absorbed in our own limited objectives, thinking that these are our raison d'etre.

A good friend of mine left consulting to become the executive vice president of HR for a huge corporation. He reviewed a study of the company's employee benefits and found some benefits were costing the company millions of dollars and delivering very little that the employees actually valued.

When he suggested cutting the benefits to save the company money, he was told he was 'confused' by his HR staff members. They noted that cutting these benefits would mean a smaller budget for the HR department and less power for them. They had become so interested in 'building their empires,' they had forgotten about making a return on investment for their stockholders.

The idea that the purpose of the organization should come before the goals of any one part of the business seems to be simple enough. Yet why do many of the leaders in talent management (and to be fair, in other areas of business, as well) so often fail to get it?

The answer is rather simple: When a goal is designated, it tends to become a fixation for highly motivated people. Add to that the pressures that come with tight deadlines, struggles for finite resources and organizational turf battles, and it's not hard to see how our own goals can absorb any of us.

The solution to this problem is equally simple, although it isn't necessarily easy. It requires honest, perhaps even painful, introspection and reflection. Conduct a thorough analysis of your goals. Ask yourself, 'What goals are consuming my time and energy?' and 'What goals are consuming the company's resources?' Rank your goals in terms of cost. Then look at the true purpose of your organization. Rank your goals in terms of 'contribution to the purpose.'

If we are honest in our assessments, most of us will find some clear discrepancies between 'cost of goal achievement' and 'contribution to our purpose.'

When this happens, we can step back, take a breath and realign our goals, successfully completing our 'to do' list with our purpose - successfully doing what really matters.

Adult School Vs Community College

I recently attended an adult school in the business sector. Looking from the outside in, the program I was interested in looked like a great program. It seemed to out do the college programs I had tried in that fact that it was concise and implemented only necessary classes.

The community college I had previously attended was 3 years long and consisted of many classes that seemed to be filler classes. While there, I seemed to be wasting my time with breaks in between classes, which were sometimes 3 hours long.

The community college had beginning dates in September and January, but still only offered specific classes in each semester. It seemed I didn't have much of a choice when and how the classes were attended. Basically, I felt like my life was being controlled by this school for three years.

Some days, we would begin early, and some days not till noon. Other days, we would work late or finish early. Keeping a part time job and going to school was stressful and confusing. It was difficult to keep classes, exams, assignments, and work hours all in order.

I decided to go back to school after I was unable to get a job in my field. I was a little wiser this time around. I had decided to go to and adult school for the main reason it took only 8 months to complete and still came out with a diploma. If I had chosen to go back to community college it would take 2 years.

I loved this school classes began at 8am and ended at 1pm everyday. There were small breaks during classes in which we were allowed to leave and come back. The programs were concise and to the point.

I really liked the way the adult school organized the courses. It was one subject at a time. We would work on that subject for usually two weeks straight and then on to another. I didn't have to worry about conflicting assignments or tests. I really enjoyed that.

At the adult education center there was an employment specialist who would work with us. She would show us how to write a resume and even performed mock interviews. It was great. She showed the perspective of the employer to help us get an edge over the competition.

I spent one year at university before community college and it was terrible. There was like 300 people in my class and the teacher did not even know my name. It was the worst experience I had with education.

I rank the first one I attended, university, the worst. It was a lot like the community college except the class sizes were larger. The community college is second, because of the ability to get to know your classmates and teachers. The adult education center is first because of all the reason above; class size, flexibility, time to complete, and daily schedule.

The very first phase when you fall in love is called "Oceanic Love." You know all about this phase. It can be called the "There's Only You" phase. There is all this pleasure, love and joy. The sex is marvelous, we spend all our spare time together, it's great.

This is what psychologists call the oceanic love phase of the relationship. It lasts six months or so. It is a powerful bonding experience. During this phase we shower our partner with attention. We think about them a lot, write love notes, go out on romantic dates, tear off each others clothes and make passionate love a lot. It doesn't matter so much what we do together, just that we have plenty of time together.

Of course, this period is a favorite for all of us. We feel "merged" and at times one with our mate. We know what love is and this is it. Our love can actually feel oceanic at times.

Fortunately and unfortunately, we must move out of this phase before too long. It's gotta happen. Despite what the movies make us believe, we don't get to live happily ever after, at least not in that phase. As much as we romanticize it, it is just one stage of relationship.

We don't understand that it is normal to move out of this phase and feel less oceanic love and merging with our partner. When this happens, we feel that something is wrong, and can start to think our lover is no longer the one for us.

In actuality, we are just moving into the next phase of love relationships, which is the me/us phase. Here we get back somewhat to our own goals and needs in life. This is important. Vainstein, who heads the team at the Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the above university, said this development is not only important to flowers that rely on scent to attract pollinators but will help boost the appeal of commercial fruits and vegetables.

"Scents in flowers and plants are used to attract pollinating insects like bees and beetles that pass on the pollen and help in the reproduction and creation of fruit. The intensity of the scent that the flower emanates is influenced by the time of day, depending on the weather, the age of the flower and the species," explained ScienceDaily.Com.

With this new technology, Vainstein hopes to help breeders create sweet-smelling flowers and produce new scents that people will enjoy. He also wants to improve the scent of fruits and vegetables to aid consumers in their choices.

"Over a third of participants in Flowers and Plants Association surveys stated that scent influenced their choice of flower purchase. You would follow the advice already mentioned above, but leave blank spaces between your phrases. In the margins of the page, you would list new vocabulary words or formulas. As soon as possible after class, you would review the notes and fill in the blanks by explaining the material that you just learned in your own words. If done correctly, you can create an effective study guide this way.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Whether you are attending high school, college or university, there are no bad questions, except for the ones that you forgot to ask.

If unwanted concerns float in, quickly acknowledge them and let them go. This can take some practice. Focus on your heart and don't expect anything but relaxation. If you have a question to ask, ask it and let it go. The answer will most likely come when you least expect it.

The images that come to you are helpful for resolving some issue in your present life, whether you believe in reincarnation or not. Although, it may not always be possible to prove that the images you receive come from a previous lifetime, many individuals do receive enough information to begin researching and verifying the events, areas or names they do receive.

Motorcycle Clubs that have lots of Chapters have problems where Government agencies try to say they are Criminal organizations. Now if you are part of something say a Business Association and you need a dentist and you have a dentist as part of your Association most likely you are going to work with him.

Now lets say your part of an Association with 20 chapters and 1 guy from your group deals drugs. Then he meets another guy from a different chapter of your Association who deals drugs too. He then meets another guy from another chapter of your group who deals drugs and then a few more and soon you have 10 guys from 10 different chapters of your group dealing drugs together across the country. Now again this could be any type of group.

Now lets say those ten guys get caught dealing the drugs. When in came time to arrest them would all the Members of the Association all across the Country get arrested ? Let me be very clear here. My question to you is, Is the whole Association guilty of a crime or is it just the ten who who committed the crimes?

Well the answer is a little crazy, If it is a church group well then it is only the ten people dealing the drugs that are Guilty. If it is members of a Police force, The Answer could be no one is Guilty! But now if it is a Motorcycle Club then the answer always seems to be everyone is Guilty!

Why does there seem to be different sets of rules that depend on who you are or who you are Associated with? We all know that in reality only the ten guys who committed the crimes are guilty. Just like any other group in the world a Motorcycle Club can have members who Commit Crimes. Why should there be harsher sets of rules and penalties because the Members of a Club happen to enjoy riding Motorcycles?

The rock roses are Mediterranean shrubs which like light, free-draining soil and a warm sunny position. Three varieties of those tried in my garden lived seven years, and cuttings taken from them continue to grace the garden in a sheltered bed by the house.

Chaenomeles speciosa nivalis is a good white form but it must be summer pruned or the colour is hidden by a mass of leaves. Personally I would prefer the hybrid between the two species under the title C. x superba Knap Hill Scarlet which is a fiery combination of orange and scarlet holding a torch for spring in every petal during April. Chaenomeles speciosa simonii is a plant of exceptional character, compact and tidy in all its parts with the flat semi-double blood-red blooms having a camellia-like quality. Soil type does not seem to be particularly important, but I give my plants a sun-soaked place and they love it. A little extra potash is well rewarded with hard-petalled flowers in profusion.

I've noticed several people do this in the past month so I thought I'd mention it.

Whenever you tell people not to do or think something, they have to go inside their head and make a representation of it before they can negate it. Even if they decide not to do it as you recommend, they'll still have experienced whatever it was like to make that picture, sound, feeling, etc.

You may have heard some people say that the subconscious doens't process the negative part of messages. It goes about bringing into existance whatever you focus on even if you're trying not to think about it.

If you notice you're telling people not to do something, hold off. Ask yourself what you do want and say that. It will have the same meaning and only give them the picture you want.

People don't often consider the images they're putting into other people's heads. A friend was melting some wax on the stove and jokingly said not to eat it. I usually respond to comments like that with, "I was just about to, I'm glad you said not to." They see the picture they just gave me and often realize how silly their statement was.

A problem/solution approach to persuasion works too. You'll have to test each method to know which converts better for your particular situation.

When you're fine tuning your message, make sure to look for negations. See if there's something else you really want your reader to be thinking about.

Your income earned during the marriage will be considered community property unless it originates from separate property. This means that even if you hold the money in a separate account it is still deemed to be community property

Your best bet, if you are applying to an educational institution of any kind, is to assume that everything you say and do in the presence of an institutional representative is being evaluated. Thus, when you are speaking with a staff member, an alumnus, or a student of any institution to which you are seeking admission, follow a few rules.

1. Never indicate that a college or graduate school is not your first choice: if you do, you may put your chance of admission at risk.

2. Do not express doubt about wanting to continue your education.

3. Dress appropriately for all meetings with institutional representatives.

4. Research the institutions to which you are applying. Never ask a question about a college or university which you could have found an answer to in a few minutes on the institution's website; it will make you appear lazy and/or not very interested.

5. Never make a comment to a student tour guide or anyone else that you would not want the Dean of Admission to hear. If you do, he or she will.

No great accomplishment has ever been achieved without planning. When Sir Edmund Hillary conquered Mount Everest, he wasn't out for a stroll and all of a sudden found himself at the summit! To make a change to your life you have to plan to make the change or it won't happen.

Prior to commencing your training course, take the time to think about your personal goals, and work out a study programme with targets or indicators of success along the way. To help you get started, use the acronym Smart to qualify the goals you plan to achieve. Smart stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and targeted.

Use the following five D's to help you get emotionally involved with the result of your efforts. Write your five D's down in a contract to yourself.

DEFINE exactly what you expect to get from your efforts, in terms of possessions, income, lifestyle etc. Make a collage of pictures that reflects these things, and look at them regularly (e.g. before your study sessions). The more specifically you define what you want, the better.

DESIRE is what stirs us deep down. Think about why you've decided to take this course, and why it's important to you. The more emotionally involved you get with your desire, the more you'll stick with it. Pin point whether it's the job, the status, the challenge, or the control etc. that drives you.

Commitment or DEDICATION. Announce to yourself and those close to you that you're dedicated to your studies by writing up a timetable and sticking with it. However much time you choose to study each week, have it written on a calendar planner that you can cross off once you've completed it. Put it in a prominent place so it's at the forefront of your mind (at least until it becomes a habit). All things that are important get prioritised, so let your friends and family know that this is a priority to you for perhaps ten hours a week for a set number of months. Once your timetable has become established, you'll take pride in your dedication, and study all the better for it.

DETERMINATION. Having a contract with yourself will make you more determined to stick with the programme. You're the one who will lose out most if you give up on yourself.

DISCIPLINE (to overcome the hard times) - The resolve to work around challenges and not allow them to stop you achieving your goals.

Your contract is a working document designed to assist and strengthen you through the change in your life. Keep it close by, and take time to look at it regularly. Add inspiring thoughts and ideas to it that will keep you on track and spur you on. The more emotionally involved you get with the results of completing your course, the sooner you'll get through it. Expectation of good things, along with planning and goal-setting, have proven time after time to bring the desired results to fruition.

Medical Marijuana Research Helps In Neuropathic Pain

Studies have shown that medical marijuana can reduce the problem that happen when someone has what is known as chronic pain syndrome which is when a burning sensation occurs and a simple touch can feel like pain.

This condition is unaffected by drugs in the aspirin family and fairly resistant to stronger analgesics such as opiates.

A study on neuropathic pain related to HIV infection had 50 patients smoked medical marijuana cigarettes three times a day or medical marijuana cigarettes from which active ingredients had been extracted in a study done in 2007 .

The studies were then instructed to rate their pain on a scale ranging from no pain to worst pain imaginable.

The results revealed a 34% reduction in ratings of pain in the medical marijuana group compared with 17% in the placebo group over five days of research and published in the journal Neurology.

Additional research concluded that 44 patients found that medical marijuana alleviated neuropathic pain arising from a variety of conditions, including spinal cord injury and diabetes and was published in June in the Journal of Pain.

Participants smoked medical marijuana on a set schedule -- first two puffs, then three puffs an hour later, then four puffs an hour after that -- from a single cigarette containing either 0%, 3.5%, or 7% THC.

Prior to smoking medical marijuana, the average pain rating was a 55 on a 100-point scale and decreased by 46% in both treatment groups and by 27% in the placebo group one hour after the last inhale.

Drugs like analgesic are often tested against experimentally induced pain. Studies have been conducted for medical marijuana as well.

One such example of this is when 15 healthy volunteers received skin injections with capsaicin as was published in 2007 in the journal Anesthesiology.

capsaicin is the chemical behind that fiery spice in chile peppers and then smoked different strength medical marijuana cigarettes.

The medium dose, with a 4% THC concentration, lessened the burning pain.

The research concluded that smoking marijuana can bring relief to sufferers of neuropathic pain comparable to other analgesic drugs.

As with all pain pills you have to keep taking it to continue gaining the benefits.
