Young adults need health insurance too

By Jeff Cline

So you never thought about health insurance until you heard you no longer qualified for your parents plan. Maybe you are transitioning into the career world and do not yet have the option of employer group health insurance. There are other options for you.

So what is a perfect option for my situatuion? Most of the major insurance companies we have all heard of can help. They offer health insurance to individuals. They have some very great plans that cater to the consumers in your exact situation.

There are many plans that are designed with your needs in mind. They know what you expect and what is important to your generation. Some good examples are the Unicare Sound and Blue Cross Tonik plans. These plans are specifically designed to appeal to the 20 something's.

Twenty Something's do not want to hassle with numerous bills. They want to go to the doctor, pay a set price and go on with their busy life. So some of these new plans offer an all inclusive co pay. Meaning it includes lab and x-ray, something not typically covered in the office visit.

Young people are loving this feature! Most are on a fixed income or have student loans to manage and just can not afford 2 or 3 bills for a office visit. It is one worry they do not want added to their plates. A $30 co pay is much more manageable then a bill for $200.

The younger generation also expect for these plans to have all the added bonuses. So they really want a plan that includes dental and vision. They are designing these plans with just that and keeping the premiums affordable.

The 20 somethings do not like all the fine details either. So these plans are simple and straight forward. They have left off the popular co insurance component of health insurance plans. So once they meet their deductible the carriers pay 100%. So no more 80/20 or maximum out of pocket confusion here.

This point of transitioning into adulthood use to be left with out insurance at all. We are smarter now and know that this is a bad idea. it can really hurt you financially. So thank you to the carriers for stepping up and providing simple plans for this special time of the young adults lives.

To Achieve Success In Study, How Important Are Targets And Goals?

By Scott Edwards

No great accomplishment has ever been achieved without planning. When Sir Edmund Hillary conquered Mount Everest, he wasn't out for a stroll and all of a sudden found himself at the summit! To make a change to your life you have to plan to make the change or it won't happen.

Prior to commencing your training course, take the time to think about your personal goals, and work out a study programme with targets or indicators of success along the way. To help you get started, use the acronym Smart to qualify the goals you plan to achieve. Smart stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and targeted.

Use the following five D's to help you get emotionally involved with the result of your efforts. Write your five D's down in a contract to yourself.

DEFINE exactly what you expect to get from your efforts, in terms of possessions, income, lifestyle etc. Make a collage of pictures that reflects these things, and look at them regularly (e.g. before your study sessions). The more specifically you define what you want, the better.

DESIRE is what stirs us deep down. Think about why you've decided to take this course, and why it's important to you. The more emotionally involved you get with your desire, the more you'll stick with it. Pin point whether it's the job, the status, the challenge, or the control etc. that drives you.

Commitment or DEDICATION. Announce to yourself and those close to you that you're dedicated to your studies by writing up a timetable and sticking with it. However much time you choose to study each week, have it written on a calendar planner that you can cross off once you've completed it. Put it in a prominent place so it's at the forefront of your mind (at least until it becomes a habit). All things that are important get prioritised, so let your friends and family know that this is a priority to you for perhaps ten hours a week for a set number of months. Once your timetable has become established, you'll take pride in your dedication, and study all the better for it.

DETERMINATION. Having a contract with yourself will make you more determined to stick with the programme. You're the one who will lose out most if you give up on yourself.

DISCIPLINE (to overcome the hard times) - The resolve to work around challenges and not allow them to stop you achieving your goals.

Your contract is a working document designed to assist and strengthen you through the change in your life. Keep it close by, and take time to look at it regularly. Add inspiring thoughts and ideas to it that will keep you on track and spur you on. The more emotionally involved you get with the results of completing your course, the sooner you'll get through it. Expectation of good things, along with planning and goal-setting, have proven time after time to bring the desired results to fruition.

Medical Marijuana Research Helps In Neuropathic Pain

By Dr. Julian Reindhurst

Studies have shown that medical marijuana can reduce the problem that happen when someone has what is known as chronic pain syndrome which is when a burning sensation occurs and a simple touch can feel like pain.

This condition is unaffected by drugs in the aspirin family and fairly resistant to stronger analgesics such as opiates.

A study on neuropathic pain related to HIV infection had 50 patients smoked medical marijuana cigarettes three times a day or medical marijuana cigarettes from which active ingredients had been extracted in a study done in 2007 .

The studies were then instructed to rate their pain on a scale ranging from no pain to worst pain imaginable.

The results revealed a 34% reduction in ratings of pain in the medical marijuana group compared with 17% in the placebo group over five days of research and published in the journal Neurology.

Additional research concluded that 44 patients found that medical marijuana alleviated neuropathic pain arising from a variety of conditions, including spinal cord injury and diabetes and was published in June in the Journal of Pain.

Participants smoked medical marijuana on a set schedule -- first two puffs, then three puffs an hour later, then four puffs an hour after that -- from a single cigarette containing either 0%, 3.5%, or 7% THC.

Prior to smoking medical marijuana, the average pain rating was a 55 on a 100-point scale and decreased by 46% in both treatment groups and by 27% in the placebo group one hour after the last inhale.

Drugs like analgesic are often tested against experimentally induced pain. Studies have been conducted for medical marijuana as well.

One such example of this is when 15 healthy volunteers received skin injections with capsaicin as was published in 2007 in the journal Anesthesiology.

capsaicin is the chemical behind that fiery spice in chile peppers and then smoked different strength medical marijuana cigarettes.

The medium dose, with a 4% THC concentration, lessened the burning pain.

The research concluded that smoking marijuana can bring relief to sufferers of neuropathic pain comparable to other analgesic drugs.

As with all pain pills you have to keep taking it to continue gaining the benefits.

How To Cure Dyslexia

By David Morgan

There is a simple approach to curing dyslexia that usually works well. You diagnose the cause of the dyslexia

Being diagnosed as dyslexic just means that you have "specific learning difficulties with reading, despite normal intelligence". It does not give any information on what is causing the difficulties with reading.

I get a bit frustrated about it because it is the equivalent of a mechanic telling you your car has broken down. What you want to know is why it isn't working and how to fix it!

Well, the good news is that there are just a handful of reasons for dyslexia and quite simple cures to most of them.

And 4 out of 5 cases are due to an "auditory deficit". That means that the person is reading the text purely visually, without using their auditory or linguistic areas of their brain.

15% have mild dyspraxia. That makes scanning the text very difficult because they don't have sufficient control of their eyeballs. Simple exercises can help that in just days.

So, don't accept a diagnosis of just dyslexia. Demand to know what is causing the dyslexia and you will then be just one step away from a cure.

Can Epoxy Lining Prevent Lead Contamination from Water Pipes

By Dr. Dave Dunn

The primary material for water pipes in major U.S. cities, between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, was lead. Its durability and malleability made it a very popular choice for pipe material. Eventually galvanized steel and copper would replace lead, and copper pipe would eventually become the most popular material used in home water service and distribution in mid to late 20th century construction.

Pipe corrosion and erosion-caused lead contamination, was the top source of lead-related health issues before the hazards of ingesting lead were realized. Stillbirth and high infant mortality were two of the worst effects of lead ingestion. Many other plumbing or pipe problems are easy to detect by seeing or listening, but without specifically testing for it, there is no way to detect lead in your water. The EPA offers general information about lead contamination and how to test for it on its website.

If your water is lead contaminated, it's most likely because of one or more of the following: lead service line pipe(s) connecting your house to the municipal water main, lead-based solder (used to join copper pipes), and brass or chrome-plated brass faucets. In 1986, Congress banned the use of lead solder containing greater than 0.2% lead, and restricted the lead content of faucets, pipes and other plumbing materials to 8.0%.? This so-called ?lead-free? brass can still legally contain up to 8% lead and plumbing systems installed prior to 1986 can contain high levels of lead from both plumbing components and lead solder.

In older structures, lines from the city/town water main to the home or building may be a lead pipe . Unless your piping has been upgraded in the past 40 years, it is probably galvanized pipe which does not require lead solder for joining. Faucets should be checked to see if they are brass or chrome-plated, a licensed plumber should be able to tell you if they are. CuraFlo??s website offers a brief history of lead materials in water pipes.

If you have lead contamination from your pipes, epoxy lining can be your solution. Once installed it is a barrier to lead leaching into your drinking water. The epoxy lining prevents the metal of the pipe and the water flowing through from coming into direct contact. This prevents the chemical reaction that causes pipe corrosion. Epoxy pipe lining eliminates and prevents lead and other metals (from your pipes) leaching into the water, as well as a host of other poor water quality issues such as: water that?s red, brown, blue or yellow, zinc or iron leeching in galvanized pipes causing a metallic taste, and bacteria that causes bad tasting water or water that smells.

A relatively unknown technology, epoxy pipe lining is not a new technology, --in fact it?s well proven. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Navy have both ested and approved the use of epoxy pipe lining to prevent contaminants, including lead, from leaching into drinking water. Their reports are published and links to them can be found at http://curaflo.com/CuraFlo/ResourceCenter. The epoxy used by CuraFlo in epoxy pipe lining, CuraPoxy?, is certified to meet the U.S.

CuraPoxy, CuraFlo's epoxy, is certified to meet ANSI/NSF Standard 61 - the U.S. government?s standard for safe drinking water. This means that it?s certified safe for use in potable (drinking) water pipes up to 180 Fahrenheit (82.2 Celsius). CuraFlo?s epoxy pipe lining process prevents pipe corrosion and erosion, protecting you from lead in your pipes leaching into your water.

Outsourced Medical Billing must pursue underpayments

By Carl Mays II

You are losing up to ten percent of your collections if payer underpayments are not being aggressively pursued by your outsourced medical billing company. It is simply a minimum requirement of being in business that medical billing companies compare your payments to the amounts your payers have agreed to pay you.

If you make the decision to outsource medical billing or are currently outsourcing, then there are a number of critical tasks and process steps that your medical billing service should provide. These include scrubbing claims before they are submitted, systematic follow-up on submitted claims, posting denials, pursuing underpayments, using patient expected payment scores just to name a few.

Pursuing underpayments is the focus of today's article. This pursuit begins first and foremost with comparing the payment information from EOBs to the allowables outlined in the practice's payer contracts. This comparison must be done in an automated manner and cannot rely upon payment posters catching the underpayments on their own.

Payers have adopted underpayment techniques that are too difficult for a payment poster to spot on their own. Medical billing companies can design their process to battle payers underpayment techniques because they have an advantage over individual practices - they see EOBs for a given payer across multiple practices and multiple states. The enhanced scope allows medical billing services that pay attention to identify patterns that might be overlooked by individual medical practices.

A disturbing pattern that can regularly be seen by a medical billing company that is paying attention is one where a payer will select a set of procedures and underpay this set of procedures across a large number of providers (often by the same amount). This will continue for about 30 days and then the payer will resume paying the procedures at the correct amount and begin underpaying a whole new selection of procedures.

Each individual underpayment is typically less than $20 and often less than $10. It is, however, death by a thousand cuts as these small losses can quickly reduce a medical practice's revenue by 5 to 10 percent. The tactics of constantly switching which CPTs are being underpaid and then underpaying in amounts that are small at the claim level make it hard for a practice to realize the magnitude of the money they are losing.

As you can imagine, these small underpayments switching from CPT to CPT would be difficult for a busy payment poster to notice. They will often spot the large underpayments (which occur with a much lower frequency than the small underpayments), but without automated comparisons the smaller underpayments are typically missed.

What does all of this mean to your top line? A medical insurance billing service that properly implements the pursuit of underpayments can increase your revenue by between 5 and 10 percent - and this is pure profit.

After the underpayment has been noticed it must be relentlessly pursued - this is what actually leads to top line improvement for your practice. Even the small underpayments cannot be ignored - to do so will invite larger and more frequent underpayments. Payers are constantly testing their boundaries. If they see that you respond at the first sign of stepping across the boundary they will quickly fall in line and pursue less vigilant targets.

The Proudest History-Parachute Regiment

By Nick Redding

In a way Winston Churchill is responsible for the existence of the fantastic fighting unit we know as the parachute regiment. At the beginning of the Second World War the then British Prime Minister called for the formation of an elite British fighting unit. The parachute regiment was created to answer this call.

Churchill wanted 5000 of the country's best men to be formed into a corp of the best parachute troops the world had ever seen. He got what he asked for. A training school was set up to create this elite military unit and work began immediately. On august the first in 1942 the parachute regiment was officially named and began to work its way toward the awesome reputation it would one day enjoy.

It quickly became a vital part of the military. Its first successful raid was in 1942. C company dropped on a Nazi radar station in Bruneval, France. The mission was a triumph with the entire group living up to the Para motto, ready for anything. Their contribution was vital and after this effort their reputation as an elite force continued to grow. They quickly gained a reputation for being the best of the best, just as Churchill had wanted.

The regiment developed their image with the iconic red beret the envy of the military regiment and a much sort after item. The other item that is special to the parachute regiment is the coveted wings, gaining those is something to be very proud of. It marks you out as a real force to be reckoned with. The parachute gained their nickname, the red devils, after the enemy started to refer to them by that name. This reflected their fierce fighting qualities and the esteem they were held in by those who fought against them.

The parachute regiment went on to serve its country proudly in many areas of war. Never once failing to impress with their fighting skill and bravery. They have fought everywhere from Palestine to Northern Ireland to the Falklands and the awards for courage they have collected along the way are too numerous to mention. Recently the parachute regiment has seen action Kosovo and performed rescue missions in Sierra Leone. The modern day para's are the British army's airborne infantry able to deploy quickly to anywhere in the world. Their role has changed slightly over the years but their reputation never has. These men are something that Churchill could be proud of.

It takes training and guts to succeed in the parachute regiment. Soft is not an option and that will be made very clear to you the day you turn up for your test. Parachute regiment training is not for the faint of heart because this is not a job for those who are not mentally and physically tough. If you want to join this elite group of men you are going to need a good parachute regiment guide penned by those that have been there and done it.

Tips to Make Homeschooling Effortless for Praents

By Isabel Allen

Homeschooling, while it affords you certain freedoms when educating your child, is not always easy. But there are things that you can do to make homeschooling easier for yourself as a parent. The following tips may help make your job as a homeschooling parent a little easier.

When in doubt, look to the internet. Use the internet to seek another plan if you are in doubt about your plan of homeschooling. You can use the internet to help you find everything homeschool related. If you need something to keep your younger child busy while working with an older child, you can look to the internet, which has many educational games, coloring pages, puzzles and mazes.

Pick a intact curriculum. Intact curriculum's will also make homeschooling easier on you as a parent. Pick a intact curriculum, instead of having to search through numerous catalogs to find the right one. Not only will it save you money, in the future, it will also save you time.

Cut yourself some slack. Don't expect yourself to be the faultless teacher. You most likely will make mistakes along the way, unless you have an education degree. Learn from the mistakes and try not to repeat them again, don't beat yourself up about them.

Allow your children to help themselves. You can't be expected to know everything, so if your child wants to learn something you don't know, give them the freedom to follow their interests. You might be pleasantly surprised to find that they learn more on their own than they did while you were more involved.

Seek support from others. When in question about anything dealing with homeschooling, seek the support from those who have been homeschooling for longer than you. The likelihood is that they will be able to give you advice and direct you in the right direction, even though they may not have dealt with the same things you're dealing with. There may be a time when you'll be able to return the favor, so take advantage of your homeschooling peers' offers of help.

Online communities are accessible. There are hundreds of homeschooling communities on the Internet if you don't know people that homeschool in your area. They can be found either outside of the United States or in every state. If you prefer, you may register to join a homeschool group or forum and be as active as you like or remain unknown.

When it is Considered an Injury at the Workplace?

By Amy Nutt

Injuries in the workplace happen all of the time. It is quite unfortunate, but certain obstacles get in the way, there are slip and fall injury accidents, and sometimes people may lift something and take out their back. There are so many things that can occur and many individuals are not quite certain when and if they should file a claim against their employer. If the injury causes them to not be able to function, then they lose wages and their quality of life is reduced significantly.

But when is it really considered a workplace injury?

Here is a list of workplace injuries:

- Carpal tunnel " This is from typing in an improper position. The wrist should be positioned in a certain way. This can be due to the employee not using proper techniques, but this can also be due to the proper supports not being provided by the company.

- Falls " If the floor is wet where it shouldn't be or there is an obstacle in the way, this can be claimed as a workplace injury.

- Breaks and fractures " If something occurs that causes you to break your arm or fracture any bone in your body, you can claim this as a workplace injury.

- Back, neck, and head injuries " If you are lifting something and you hurt your back, you can claim the injury if you were not provided with the right kind of back support to prevent the injury. Neck injuries can happen in this way as well. As far as head injuries go, you can get them from falling, from something falling on you, or from something hitting you.

- Tendonitis " This is the result of overuse of that particular part of your body. When it is work-related, there is a possible claim.

- Burns and lacerations " If you are cut or burned on the job, then you may be able to claim the injury.

There are many other injuries that can occur on the job. The best way to know whether or not it is considered an injury in the workplace is when it has occurred because of something that someone else caused or was caused by the company themselves.

There are many instances in which the right safety gear is not offered. There are also cases in which a person may be severely overworked and it leads to overuse injuries. The best way to be able to file a workplace injury claim is to be able to prove that the company is at fault in some way. If you tripped over your own feet, that is hardly grounds for an injury claim although it happened at work. So you have to be mindful of what constitutes an injury at work and what doesn't. Just know that if you cause the injury that you won't be able to file a claim against the company since it wasn't due to their negligence.

So if you find that your company is not employing the right safety measures, do something about it. Tell them what it is that you and the employees need. They should know this considering there are severe consequences for companies that don't ensure their employees are safe.

In the meantime, exercise your own safety measures so that you don't become injured. You never know when an injury may cause you to be out of work indefinitely and that can cause severe financial consequences for you in the form of medical expenses and lost wages. Workplace injuries are the most common injuries, so make sure you are careful when on the job. In the long run you'll be glad that you were.

Using Talent Assessment To Determine Future Company Leaders

By T.S. Field

A talent assessment can help an employer who is looking for an easy way to determine future leaders among those who have applied for a job and have made the next round in the application process. If a company has several senior managers ready for retirement over the next few years, and the company has very few potential leaders to replace them, then the organization may turn to recent college graduates or recruiting firms for the future leaders it needs. A talent assessment can prove to be the right tool needed to find the right person with the right qualities.

An organization may be in the process of upgrading or revamping an existing company-sponored leadership training progam. Then the leadership training personnel can develop its own assessment to determine the qualities needed in their future leaders or adapt an existing evaluation to their needs. A leadership assessment could be added to a psychometric assessment that consists of aptitude testing and personality assessment. The talent testng could be geared toward identifying the twelve characteristics of a leader listed below:

1. Carefulness - a tendency to plan and think before speaking or acting.

2. Cooperation - the ability to be likeable and genial in interpersonal relationships.

3. Creativity - the ability and willingness to think "outside the box"

4. Discipline - a tendency towards being dependable, responsible, and able to follow through in order to complete tasks

5. Goodwill - able to be forgiving and to think of others as having good intentions

6. Influence - ability to impress others by speaking with authority

7. Optimism - tendency toward a positive attitude and having confidence in favorable outcomes

8. Order - naturally neat and has good organizational skills

9. Savvy - ability to read people to know their needs and intentions

10. Sociability - enjoys being with other people at work and at social gatherings

11. Stability - ability to remain calm and rational during stressful situations

12. Striving - abiity to keep pushing and working hard to obtain goals

There are many assessments that measure leadership potential in the marketplace. A company may also develop their own leadership potential test in order to customize the test to help choose the best candidates. A company may want to view and compare several assessments before finalizng their choice. The talent assessment can save a company a lot of time and money by recognizing leadership potential in job applicants at the time of hiring. Most companies' managers are approaching retirement and will need to be replaced in the coming years. Hiring talented leaders today can help ease the transitions needed in the future.

Investigating Somebody With A Reverse Phone Search

By Jenny Lancaster

Are you trying to find information about a telephone number that you don't know or recognize? Trying to get the scoop on who's been calling you all night, or who left a weird message on your answering machine? Then you need to use a reverse phone directory, and it's easy to do.

You will find many sites online that provide fast reverse phone searches for free. The most commonly used free sites are the Google and Yahoo phone directories, Anywho, 411, and the WhitePages. All a person needs to do is type in the number, with area code, into the search bar and hit enter.

Surprisingly, many people willingly give this private information over to various sites like when they make online purchases, join user discussion groups or place online classified ads. Any major search engine like Google or Yahoo can help you trace a number. Make sure to try out all possible variations.

It is an ideal way to locate information on a person, and private investigators have been using this service for years. When you first search out information on reverse phone searches, you will find two different options to choose from. They have limitless information on the many publicly listed phone numbers.

With caller ID systems failing to show more than a carrier name for received cell phone calls, people are looking for a way to know who is calling. Thankfully, reverse phone lookup programs offer a way to trace cell phone numbers free. These programs have compiled extensive databases of numbers that they constantly update that can help you find out once and for all who keeps calling you.

A reverse cell phone lookup directory is an easy way to find information about a number. By simply entering the suspicious number into the search box, you can easily get the answers you need. Name, address, cell phone provider and other personal information of the owner is readily available.

So now when that prank call comes in, all you have to do is type in the number and hit search. With in a few seconds you will have access to not only the name of the person but also their address, service provider and phone status. I think you could have a little fun with the prank caller after getting all that information.

If a phone number is attached to a landline, then it's usually fairly easy to find out the owner of that number. You can either try and get your hands on a reverse phone book, or you can simply Google it. In most cases you will be able to find the number after a simple search online, and failing that, there are dozens if not hundreds of reverse lookup services available.

Confirm the information by running checks on other similar sites or alternatively, run a quick check on the popular social networking sites. Validating results from various sources can ensure that that all details are correct. This is of critical importance especially when it is imperative that you get the identity of the correct person for official purposes.

To really do a good reverse cell phone lookup you need to look at the sites that charge a nominal fee. Their information is current and accurate and in some cases contains more than just the persons name and address, but also historical information about the number. You are the one who has to decide if the cost is worth the information.

Country Birth Records - How to Find

By Jason Voxly

The birth records we get when we are born include a whole range of information about us. This includes where we were born, how much we weighed and our parents names and often our parents jobs at the times we were born. The piece of paper we receive is quite small and prone to being lost, the internet has given us the opportunity to retrieve that information easily and quickly.

When you are born the doctor or nurse signs the documents and makes sure they are legitimate. The original copy is kept by the authorities and you are also given a copy. The fact the authorities keep a copy is extremely important, as this should always be available for you to find and copy if required. Throughout life you have to come back to your birth certificate for such regular activities as opening a bank account or getting a passport, so having it in existence is vitally important.

The reason you are looking for your county birth records may be because you simply lost your own and you need to perform a particular act with it, for example signing up for a service that needs your birth certificate. You may also be looking to do some family research and need someone else's birth certificate because not only will it prove they existed, but it may have information about parents on it which you can use for further research. Or, you may just be curious to see if your or someone else's records are there.

Online databases is how you find your documents online, you can search with a few clicks and sometimes get your results for free. Whatever fee you have to pay you can rest assured it will be cheaper than the endless hours you would, or have spent searching the country for birth records only to be knocked back time after time. Searching online is comfortable, do it at home or at work, and do it as many times as you want whilst watching your favourite soap or football game.

If you decide this is for you, and I expect you will considering you can take away the hard work and do it from your own home, then you need to do your research. Don't dive in and sign up to the first one you find without checking the competition. Make sure the site you're on offers all the benefits the others do, and make sure any information you give to them will not be sold or used in a way you don't want. The amount of times people have to get new email addresses because they signed up for countless things that spam them non-stop is extremely high.

Good luck with your search and I hope you find the birth records you are looking for.

Academic Summer Camps Teach Creative Learning Techniques

By Lauren Tyson

Studying isn't about just cramming facts into memory banks. It can be difficult to absorb information and store it for future retrieval when memorizing a collection of dry facts that lack meaningful organization. Utilizing proper study techniques helps the brain process learned information by grouping it into formats that are usable, and more importantly, retrievable. This process can be enhanced by adding a fun and inventive twist to studying which will keep a student engaged.

Pairing intuitive learning techniques with a student's natural creativity is just one of the reasons why SuperCamp remains a leader in academic summer camps around the world. Students, ranging from grades 4 through 12, will leave camp armed with a repertoire of critical learning and life skills necessary for success in their academic career. Bridging the gap between course work and student will be remarkably easier when they are equipped with a wide range of study skills and advantageous techniques that cater specifically to their learning style.

Mind Mapping, a method developed by Tony Buzan in the 1960's, allows students to actively learn through the use of colorful pictures and word associations. It creatively personalizes information in a unique way that also engages the left and right side of the brain simultaneously. This technique can be used by anyone who needs to prepare for an exam, write a book report, plan an event, or tackle a challenging problem.

How does one use Mind Mapping? First, turn your page horizontally so that you have plenty of room to spread outwards. Your first addition to the page should be something that represents the main idea of the subject matter you are covering. Consider the life cycle of a plant as an example. Sketch a picture in the center of the page that accurately represents your topic; in this case, you could pair the words with a drawing of a plant. Draw tapering branches stemming from the main idea and write each clarifying points along the branches' length: the germination of a seed, where a plant gets its food, the process of photosynthesis, and how flowers are pollinated. Be sure to include a picture with all relevant pieces of information and use at least three different colors throughout your Mind Map.

Color is important in Mind Mapping because it stimulates the imaginative portion of the brain and holds attention. Pairing pictures with words helps the brain form associations that can be easily summoned when needed. Each Mind Map should be unique in appearance and include a variety of pictures and words that emphasize the focal points and supporting details of the subject matter at hand. The final product will resemble a branching tree surrounding a central idea, which will serve as a reminder that the bigger picture should always be kept in mind.

With a strong foundation formed at an early age, students can develop study skills that work best with their mode of learning. A student who is able to manipulate content in a mentally stimulating way will be much less apprehensive about learning new material, which may set a trend in years to come. James Ohnoki, a SuperCamp graduate and earnest believer in Mind Mapping, felt that Mind Mapping brought about a new level of understanding to his study habits and became a major turning point in his academic career. The visual elements helped him connect facts to a bigger picture, while the drawing and coloring aspects gave him license to be as creative as he wanted.

Students like James Ohnoki will be astonished at how effective the learning techniques they develop at SuperCamp will transform their study habits and turn them into interactive learners. It will bridge the gap between their coursework and comprehension, and start them down the road toward academic success. With learning techniques like Mind Mapping at their disposal, students will find the way to success is remarkably less difficult to traverse.

Use Talent Assessments To Find Future Leaders

By T.S. Field

Why use a talent assessment to find future leaders? An organization that promotes from within will have very little trouble recognizing potential leaders because a past job performance is usually a good measurement of leadership skills and abilities. But what if the company is seeking to hire recent college graduates who will be developed into future leaders over time? The human resource manager can use an asssessment to determine the best candidates for a leadership position.

If the organization is planning a new leadership training program owned and sponsored by the company then developing its own assessment or utilizing one that already exists would be a valuable first step in determining likely leadership candidates. Such an assessment would be an easy addition to the psychometric assessment given to applicants to determine aptitude and personality. The talent portion of the assessment can be directed toward the twelve traits found in good leaders. Those twelve traits are:

There are hundreds of assessments to choose from if the organization wishes to use the talent portion of the overall assessment process. It is advised that the company compares several different assessments and their benefits before making a final choice. The talent assessment can help an organization save time and money by helping the company find leadership potential among job applicants. If a company's senior leaders are retiring within a few years, this assessment can be given every time there is a job opening in the company so that new potential leaders can be trained and transitioned smoothly into the vacated positions.

Continuing Care: Is It Right For You?

By Amy Nutt

Not everyone is cut out to pursue a career in continuing care. It requires a special temperament and personality to withstand the unique challenges and pressures that the caregiver will be subjected to. So how do you know if you have the right personality for the job, preferably before you start down this career path? This is an area where personality and ability are both extremely important.

Many medical professionals avoid this area because it requires a dedication that just doesn`t suit everyone. Looking after someone for a long period of time just isn`t the right way to go for everyone, so you`ll want to be sure that it`s the right path for you. There are a few characteristics that are common throughout the continuing care community. If you have these, then chances are, this is the right line of work for you.

Compassion: Without this, you`ll fail. It takes a compassionate heart to spend long hours caring for someone who is unable to look after themselves. If you have always enjoyed helping people and feeling useful, then this is a good indication that you`ll enjoy enrolling in a continuing care program.

Strength: Not just physical, though this is quite useful, as well, when you are lifting a full grown adult into the tub. However, mental strength is also necessary. You need to be able to deal with situations that may not be very comfortable, for you or the patient. It can be embarrassing for a teen boy to be helped onto the toilet, for example, and you`ll need to deal with thi

Patience: If you are an impatient person, chances are long term care isn`t a good place to work. This is a career that requires long hours of doing very little, simply being present in case your patient needs help. It can involve repetitive tasks, like checking heart rate and blood pressure, reading the same book over and over and hours doing tasks that would normally take a few minutes, like feeding a patient or helping someone get from one room to another. Patience is essential.

Friendliness: Continuing care involves long periods of time spent with the same patient. Unlike regular hospital care where you only see a patient for a few hours or days and never really get to know them, this career will leave you with more than enough time to get to know the people you work with. A callous attitude won`t work well, though many patients, particularly those in hospice care, will be resistant to you. A friendly attitude can go a long ways.

It can be mentally and physically exhausting working with people in long term care. You`ll be working with the elderly, the terminally ill and those who have been incapacitated in some way. It can take a toll on your personal life if you aren`t careful, so you also need to know when to take a break. You won`t be able to continue indefinitely and it`s important to be able to separate work from personal life.

Continuing care is not the ideal career for everyone. However, if you are compassionate, friendly and strong mentally and physically, with the ability to separate the life you lead on your off hours from your work, then it could be a good fit for you. The world needs people who are willing to participate in long term care, so this is an area that will always be open to more workers. It`s a good field to go into if you find that you have the right personality.

Getting the Most out of Your Reverse Phone Lookup Membership

By Hans Hisbon

Having a subscription to a reverse phone number lookup service allows you to have information that only was once available to a select few, namely governement officials such as police officers and the like. Be sure to get the most out of what you are paying for.

It can be amazing the amount of information that is stored in computers these days. If you are a busy salesperson and need to find a person quickly but you realized that you did not write down a name for your number, let a lone an address, no need to worry when you have your reverse telephone number membership. Often, a quick search will tell you other general information about the person as well, such as the age, relatives and the different cities they have lived in.

Most memberships even allow you to look up cell phone numbers as well. Most cell phones do not give you the name of the person who is calling unless it is already stored in the phone's memory. You can ignore the calls that do not show up, look them up later and decide if you need or want to call them back. Be sure to put them in your contact list so you know who it is next time that they call your phone.

Many people use their membership to lookup numbers that are in classified newspaper ads. If you are interested in an item in a classified ad, lookup the number with your membership to find out what part of town it is in. It could be your neighbor and you would not know it. There are so many victims of crime nowadays by simply responding to a classified ad, it pays to be careful. If the person on the other end does not give an address that is associated with the telephone number, or even a name, then raise your eyebrow, something could be wrong. Be sure to ask a lot of questions.

Today, information is accessible by virtually anyone with a computer and internet access. If you are willing to pay the price, you can find out about anything you want. What was once almost impossible to find without consulting a private investigator for access, is accessible by virtually anyone with a computer. Be sure you are getting the most for you money when you subscribe to one of these information services.

A Small Sense of Freedom

By LJ James

Whenever a person or group of people try to live their lives free, those who are stuck in unhappy lives will be jealous. Some people have a hard time letting go, freeing themselves from the day to day trials and tribulations of everyday life even for a little while. Others seek an escape from the stress and anxiety often associated with modern day life. I guess for me, that's part of why I am a Biker. There is something about riding a bike that inspires a sense of freedom in me. The open road, the wind in my face, the smells, getting back to nature, the power of my bike. It's all these things and more that make me feel free. It's unfortunate that there are some people who, for whatever reason, can't find something or someway to let go and experience the sense of freedom that we do. These people, for whatever reason, are the ones who point to us and call us rogues or rebels. They say that what we are doing is wrong and that our culture is a "disruptive influence."

As Bikers, we live our lives a little differently. We work and have responsibilities, but we still know the feeling of freedom. Maybe its because we smile just a bit more and are a bit more relaxed that turns these people green with envy? A person who works hard and has no free time sees a person on the road riding his or her motorcycle and thinks "I wish that was me!" The thought of being free doesn't leave their mind. They long for it. They crave it badly! How many of you out their have had a friend tell you how they have always wanted to buy a Motorcycle and just go out riding? How many of them ever actually do?

Here is a typical story : A man is driving home from work when he see's a group of motorcycle riders pull up next to him. He looks at this group of people riding together having a great time, He starts to think, "I wish that was me". He then decides, "I'm going to buy a Motorcycle!" He starts thinking about riding. How great it will be to have his wife on the back of his bike and the wind in his face. We could ride up to the lake or maybe that little motel way up in the Mountains. Thinking of the great times he will have he starts to feel that small sense of freedom. He thinks "This must be what those Biker get to feel, Wow!" He turns into the driveway, parks his truck and rushes into the house to tell his wife about his fantastic idea. "Hi honey, I'm going to buy a Motorcycle." His wife looks at him and says "What? Did you get overwhelmed by the fumes at work again?" "You can't ride a Motorcycle. The man answers back, "I'll learn!"

"You must be crazy", she says. "Those things are death traps! You will kill yourself and we can't afford it!" "Honey this is something I really want" replies the man. "NO NO NO!!! I won't have one of those things in my house! What kind of message would it send to the kids, our neighbors?" They argue about it, but it the end, the man never gets his motorcycle. He never goes to the lake with his wife or takes that trip up to the little motel in the mountains. He never feels the real sense of freedom one can only get when taking a long trip on a motorcycle. He spends the rest of his life wishing he had never seen that group of Motorcycles. He is angry and bitter.

Now when he see's Bikers he puts them down. He hates Bikers, not because of who or what they are, but because of what he can never be. He hates them because of what they represent. They represent a kind of freedom, sense of belonging, a oneness with nature and the world that he longs for, he craves, but can never have. We live here in America, the home of the free, but many are not free. They have never experienced the sense of freedom that can only be experienced on two wheels and, for whatever reason, never will. They live boring, uneventful. "safe" lives and complain about those who don't.

Don't hate these envious people, pity them for they will never know the sense of freedom and brotherhood we get from riding with a group of our Bro's. They'll never know the wind in their face, the feeling of peace and oneness with nature we feel as we ride threw the country side or down a long lonely highway. They'll never know the clarity of mind that comes from a long ride alone or the closeness and bond of a long ride or weekend away with someone special. Just thank your higher power that you've found a way to escape, a way to be free, even if it's just on the weekends.

Ride Safe and Ride Free because when it all come down to it, this is all about the Ride! Your Bro L.J. James AmericanBikerX.com Listen to LJs Radio Show at BikerLowDown.com
