Mission Control: Putting Our Purpose Above Our Goals

By Marshall Goldsmith

At the surface level, 'purpose' and 'goal' seem to be very similar. In fact, my thesaurus tells me they're synonyms. It might appear that we can use them interchangeably. But in parsing the definitions of these words, we discover they're as different as night and day.

Goals are the specific objectives we strive to achieve, usually within well-defined parameters of space, time and resources. On the other hand, purpose is abstract. It's the 'why' behind any thought or deed. Purpose is not about achieving an objective it is more of a way of life. Purpose is enduring, whereas goals can be created, adjusted and discarded as needed.

Going beyond mere semantics, you can see the variation between purpose and goals in what you do at work. Goals can be the targets you set regarding the recruitment, retention, development and progression of your organization's workforce.

In contrast, purpose should be what the goals serve. You establish those targets to achieve a greater overarching aim, one that benefits the business and its shareholders.

For instance, you wouldn't bring in 1,000 employees just for the purpose of making your workforce larger, would you? Of course not. (At least I hope not.)

On the other hand, you might set a goal of bringing in these employees to prepare your organization to support its purpose and to ensure the success of an exciting new growth opportunity.

We often get lost and confuse our goals with our purpose, both with our companies and our families. I will never forget teaching a leadership development session in a Fortune 500 company that not only involved executives - it involved the spouses or partners of the executives. As part of the session, executives received feedback from their partners.

Many executives learned that their partners felt ignored or put in 'second place' compared with work. When the executives were asked, 'Why are you working so hard?' they invariably said, 'Because I want my family to have a great life.' Their partners almost always replied, 'We have more money than we will ever spend. We would just like to see you more!'

Many executives had clearly let their goal (make a lot of money) become more important than their purpose (create a great life for themselves and their families).

I bring this up because the distinction between a goal and a purpose sometimes can be lost on talent management professionals - we can get so absorbed in our own limited objectives, thinking that these are our raison d'etre.

A good friend of mine left consulting to become the executive vice president of HR for a huge corporation. He reviewed a study of the company's employee benefits and found some benefits were costing the company millions of dollars and delivering very little that the employees actually valued.

When he suggested cutting the benefits to save the company money, he was told he was 'confused' by his HR staff members. They noted that cutting these benefits would mean a smaller budget for the HR department and less power for them. They had become so interested in 'building their empires,' they had forgotten about making a return on investment for their stockholders.

The idea that the purpose of the organization should come before the goals of any one part of the business seems to be simple enough. Yet why do many of the leaders in talent management (and to be fair, in other areas of business, as well) so often fail to get it?

The answer is rather simple: When a goal is designated, it tends to become a fixation for highly motivated people. Add to that the pressures that come with tight deadlines, struggles for finite resources and organizational turf battles, and it's not hard to see how our own goals can absorb any of us.

The solution to this problem is equally simple, although it isn't necessarily easy. It requires honest, perhaps even painful, introspection and reflection. Conduct a thorough analysis of your goals. Ask yourself, 'What goals are consuming my time and energy?' and 'What goals are consuming the company's resources?' Rank your goals in terms of cost. Then look at the true purpose of your organization. Rank your goals in terms of 'contribution to the purpose.'

If we are honest in our assessments, most of us will find some clear discrepancies between 'cost of goal achievement' and 'contribution to our purpose.'

When this happens, we can step back, take a breath and realign our goals, successfully completing our 'to do' list with our purpose - successfully doing what really matters.

Ladies Royal Ascot

By David Oneil

Hats and Ladies Royal Ascot literally go "hand in hand". Ladies Day has got to be one of the most well recognised racing days in the world. It is not, however, just renowned for the racing but for the amazing outfits and hats worn by the Ladies at Royal Ascot.

Although the trend towards the high fashion and hats has increased over the years it must be remembered that even in the earlier days of racing the "punters" usually consisted of the English Nobility who were attired in sumptuous clothes and treated to large and very exquisite banquets.

It is not that easy to exactly pinpoint when the third day of the races became "Ladies Royal Ascot" or Ladies Day. History seems to point to the fact that the third day of the races became the most popular one, especially with females, who then brought with them the fashion and hats.

Along the years Ladies Day became a firm favourite at Royal Ascot and the even the gentleman had the dress code of full morning suits. Ladies were expected to wear clothes that did not show all their midriff nor their bare shoulders. Although today there are no strict requirements for the Silver Ring Enclosure you will see that Ladies use this day to really "dress up" and wear hats they would never wear anywhere else.

Ladies Royal Ascot became the racing season "event" to demonstrate all the latest fashions with the ladies competing for the "best" hat. At 2.00pm on Ladies day the Royal procession begins with the Royals dressed in all their finery.

Although the Queens attire is formal many of the Ladies attending the race will get around the stricter dress code by wearing a "creation" on their heads. The well known and renowned hatmakers will use this event to show off and display their latest designs.

To get a high quality and unusual hat for the Ladies Royal Ascot then look no further than Herbert Johnson Ltd of London. They have been making hats for over two hundred years and their clientel include Princess Diana,Kings,Queens and Tsars.

On a different note always check the weather forecast. British summers are not well known for being particularly warm or dry! If you are a lady attending the event make sure your footwear is suitable especially if the ground is soft...

Adoption Resources Abound Online

By Carol Ann

There are thousands of children who are put up for adoption each year for many different reasons. The reasons aren't as important as the fact that there are also thousands of families who want to adopt a child. The adoption process can be overwhelming and disappointing if the adoptive parents run into problems. But help is available and easily accessible, more than ever before.

It is important to find multiple sources to help in the adoption process. The first and most important resource for information should be the adoption agency you are working with. They can supply you with a plethora of information and resources. If they aren't doing this, then you probably should move to another agency.

Joining an adoptive parent's group is another thing you should consider. Your agency will probably be able to refer you to a few. Otherwise, go to the internet to find one. For some people, meeting up with one or two couples who have experienced the adoption process is a better way to proceed. Either way, you should come away from these experiences with some great advice.

Your family and your friends are going to be your largest support group, so it is important to talk to them in depth about your plans, your goals, and your hopes. Make your self available to answer their questions - and there will be lots of questions. Just make sure you keep an open dialogue to keep things clean.

It is important to remember that you aren't alone while going through the adoption process. Adoption is prevalent and thousands of adoptions occur each year. Use your agency and your friends and family support group to help you. And the internet can be invaluable in the process.

How To Find A Competent Birth Injury Attorney

By Allen Batson

One half of one percent of births in the United States involves what are called 'birth injuries.' This works out to 1 birth injury out of every 200 births. Birth injuries are typically the result of an improper procedure during birth or a loss of oxygen to the baby during delivery. An attorney who specializes in seeking redress for birth injuries is called a 'Birth Injury Attorney.' If your child suffered a birth injury, this article may assist you in finding a competent Birth Injury Attorney.

In finding a birth injury attorney, the first strategy is to call a lawyer you trust and ask if they can recommend a birth injury attorney. You don't have to explain yourself and probably shouldn't. Answer any questions directly and briefly. Let the attorney lead you. If you do not know a lawyer, or don't know one you trust with this matter, call family, friends, co-workers.

A personal recommendation for any type of personal injury lawyer is a start, but it's okay if they give the name of any lawyer they have a relationship with. Get the name and number and make the call yourself. When you get the secretary, tell her the name of the person who recommended the attorney you wish to speak with. If asked why, say it is a personal matter.

Work your phone. It is the only way to do this. When you find a birth injury attorney, make an appointment. Prepare yourself for the appointment. You are just going to be discussing your case, but bring a briefcase with copies of every document related to the pregnancy and the injury. Copies only - keep the originals in the safest place you own.

So you have made an appointment to meet with a birth injury attorney. Go to the meeting as prepared as you want your lawyer to be on your behalf. Bring whatever documentation you have (copies only). Answer the attorney's questions as straightforward and to the point as you can. Once the attorney decides to take your case, don't jump at it. Get reference, check it out and call back when you have made your decision.

The Duties of Surgical Technicians

By Amy Coulter

After a successful surgery, all praises are usually directed to the surgeon. The name of the surgeon gets more and more recognition as the total of successful operations increase. However, the surgeon is not the only person whose skill determines the outcome of the surgery.

The surgical technicians, who often go unrecognized by patients, deserve equal praises as those received by the surgeon. A huge percentage of the probability of a successful surgery depends on the surgical technician's ability to do his job effectively.

A surgical technician is a skilled professional whose job is tremendously important to individuals undergoing surgery. The roles of a surgical technician may differ among states and even between medical institutions because state laws and superior physicians determine their roles.

Surgical technicians undergo and complete special training, which lasts for about two years, either at community or trade colleges. They may also be certified through various medical agencies, and take examinations after completing medical school to get official recognition.

One of the most important aspects of surgical technician jobs is learning how to effectively prepare operating rooms properly. It is essential that the operating rooms used during surgeries are sterile, which will lower the rate of infection in patients. This does not mean "cleaning" the operating rooms.

That is the job of the maintenance personnel. The surgical technician could just supervise the cleaning and prepare and sterilize all the instruments that might be needed in the surgery.

During the actual surgery, the surgical technician is on hand to give assistance in a range of functions. They must be able to follow the surgeon's direction quickly and carefully, and with accuracy.

Hence, they must be very familiar with the names of the numerous surgical instruments a surgeon might require during an operation. The ability to work with grace under pressure is also a must.

No matter how intense pressure is building up, the surgical technician should stay calm, collected and focused. Mental alertness and comprehension is very important. In addition, because the surgical technician could actually be present during some operations, tolerance for seeing open surgeries is very important.

Benefits of Empoying a Personal Injury Lawyer

By Sid Cranleigh

It may be tempting to jump in and get your claim started without any delay; however there are several things that you need to be aware of prior to starting a personal injury claim.

Insurance companies are renowned for delaying claims, or even refusing to accept them. This is a major reason why you need a good and a sound case to present to the insurance companies in order to get your relevant compensation.

You can make the claim all by your self, but why not employ the services of a personal injury solicitor, especially when most of them offer a 'no win, no fee' structure. This way they are very concerned to win your case for you as they stand to lose a lot if they don't win.

Your personal injury solicitor will tell you to go to a doctor if you haven't already done so. This is needed so that the doctor can provide you with a report on the extent of the injuries that you sustained and treatment that was administered. This document will serve as evidence during the court case.

Your personal injury solicitor will most likely advise you to also go to the police and report the incident. This will be further evidence that you will have for claiming against the insurance company.

After having been to a doctor, you will be advised to report the incident to the police. This will also prove to be an important bit of evidence in your case for a personal injury claim. At no time should you admit any responsibility for the accident, otherwise you will sink your chances of compensation entirely.

A personal injury solicitor who has covered many personal injury claims will be able to advise you every step of the way. Although you will need to do a fair bit of work your self at first, after the initial reporting has been accomplished, the personal injury solicitor will be able to do most of the rest on your behalf. Timing is particularly important as you only have a small window of time to start your claim before it expires.

Most solicitors will undertake personal injury cases, however it is most advisable to find a personal injury solicitor who is experienced in this aspect of the law as each legal division has its own peculiarities that an expert would know.

Netbook Reviews For Students

By Rick Amorey

One of the reasons why netbooks are so popular these days then the bigger, more functional laptops is because of their relative cheapness to said laptops. The cheapest ones cost about $300-$500 per unit, and a student can buy it with a few weeks of allowance money. On the other hand, notebook computers are priced at least $1000; and the price discrepancy is clearly defined.

As the student's life continue to become more Internet-based, the need to stay connected as much as possible likewise continues to increase. These days, professors allow you to submit your paper on their email, or even require reading from a website. A student who doesn't have a laptop finds himself disadvantaged when compared to his peers.

So these are two reasons right there; it is necessary for a student's life, and affordable as well. But then, if it's so important to be online these days, you might as well look good while you're on it, right? That is the third factor that makes these small laptops desirable; for on the world of gadgets, small is sexy. There's nothing geeky about them, so students can be proud of their fashionable netbooks.

With that, people who are in the market to buy these cheap and affordable netbooks should know what they want. With the number of preconceptions about these computers is the notion that they are just miniaturized laptops. Their main difference is the functionality. If all you need out of a laptop is quick Internet access, Instant Messaging and to check your e-mail, then this machine is perfect for you.

But if your needs as a student extend to intensive applications like Photoshop or if you'd like to be able to do some gaming adequately, then you should look for a full-pledged notebook instead. They will deliver you what you need better; it just won't be as affordable, and it'll be harder to bring it around.

History of Hydroponics Gardening

By Paul J. Easton

History reveals that the Hanging Gardens of Babylon is a big evidence of a hydroponic garden. Moreover, the Aztec Indians in the now Mexico had a system of growing crops on rafts. These rafts are in shallow lakes that you can still see in floating gardens near Mexico City. Therefore, history shows the great significance of hydroponic system of growing plants even in ancient times.

Developments with hydroponics did not however take place in Europe until 1699 when Woodward discovered it. He found out that he can grow plants in a solution of water to which soil had been added.

On the other hand, Liebig, a German scientist, originated using nutrient solutions to study the nutritional requirements of plants in the 1850's. It was then followed by Sachs in 1860. Knop also did some studies of nutrient elements in water solutions in 1861. They grew plants in nutrients-rich solutions with mineral salts. This does away with the soil as a main requirement for growing crops.

Many researches on the nutritional requirements of plants extended through even until the 1870's. By 1925, practical applications of hydroponics were being introduced for the vast development in the greenhouse industry.

The next decade followed with the wide growth as scientists grown mindful of the prospective development of producing hydroponically to sustain the food supply with rapid growth in population. Developments remained and the commercial use of hydroponics opened worldwide gradually. But it was the N.F.T. method by Dr Alan Cooper in the 1970's, along with improved nutritional formulations, that successfully made the hydroponic growing of a wide range of plants commercially possible.

Hydroponics has grown rapidly since the Aztecs and it has become an important method of producing crops in areas of the World where water is precious and land futile for growing plants. With conscious, well maintained hydroponic crops, we can be assured that farming high quality crops can be environment-friendly for tomorrow.

Learn To Speak Spanish Fast

By Jerry Brown

If you are keen to learn a new language, the first thing to remember is that it needs your hundred percent attention. No matter how easy you find learning a new language is, you should not just take it for granted, because then you will just end up having a hard time. One of the most popular language courses taken is that to learn how to speak Spanish as it is often considered the most useful after English.

In case you think that you might be over age to join classes with a bunch of young people, then opt for their language programs. To help further, most schools and colleges also organise courses during the summer breaks which can be easier for some people keen to learn quickly.

For people looking for a position where speaking Spanish is a requirement, some languages companies can arrange 'crash' courses and help with finding that job afterwards. In case you do not have any time, many bookshops sell dictionaries, which can also help you learn the language. You could also avail several self-help books, which contain Spanish phrases and sentences with simultaneous English translations written at the bottom. Free tutorials are there for you to take help from which are available on the net from Google and Yahoo. Teaching your self how to pronounce a word or reading a language is not the end of learning, though speaking Spanish should not be a problem since it is more based on phonetic. Web casts and pod casts today help you listen to the language via the Internet and some sites even allow you to download it, so just type and you can learn.

Yet it is far simpler to learn a language if you listen to it so do not depend too much on books as there are plenty of materials for you to listen and watch, like songs, movies and tele-novels. Pictures would help, as well because you will remember the Spanish word more easily if you know what it looks like. If you have lots of money, go, travel and explore because there's no other fun and exciting way to learn a new language but to really experience it by interacting with the people who really speaks it. Once you get closer to the people, their culture and ethos, you would be speaking Spanish in the quickest possible way.

Just remember never to put too much pressure on your self, as it would only delay your learning process. Remember not just say the words when you are speaking Spanish but to use an accent as well - it will improve the sound. You might sound outlandish but never mind, when you are learning a language for the first time you are not expected to speak it fluently. In fact, you can only learn the hard way when you make mistakes, so be carefree, and enjoy your learning process throwing caution to the winds.

How To Start Your Real Estate Foundation Development

By C Bolden

Before you pursue your real estate investing, it's important to set up your real estate foundation development. This means studying the real estate market in your area and finding people you will need to work with (real estate agents, mortgage brokers, loan officers, repairmen, and so on). Set a firm foundation so when you see a great real estate opportunity, you can hop on it right away. These following seven steps can get you started on your real estate investing career:

(1) Fix your credit rating score. Your credit rating score can directly affect your ability to borrow money, so it literally pays to have good credit. If you have a poor credit rating, you can still invest in real estate. You just will have a tougher time getting a loan than someone with a better credit rating. The first step to fixing your credit rating is to pay off your credit card debts as much as possible because when banks see that you're making regular payments, they'll gradually boost your credit rating.

(2) Decide where to invest. You know your neighborhood better than any anyone else, so that's the best place to start investing. If your neighborhood is getting worse, choose a nearby area where you believe the opportunities are better. Just make sure you begin with the most promising area with real estate prices that you can comfortably afford.

(3) Build your investment team. You will need help from other people. You'll need and escrow officer or mortgage broker to help you apply for and process a loan. You'll need a real estate agent, who can often give you background information about a piece of property. You'll need an appraiser to tell you the value of the property. A home inspector can help you spot problems. An accountant to help with your taxes. An insurance agent to insure any properties you buy. An attorney who can advise you on legal matters and you will need a home improvement contractor.

(4) Get prequalified for a bank loan. Nothing is more frustrating than finding the perfect real estate opportunity but not having the money available to take advantage of it. That's why you should get prequalified for a loan so you know the maximum amount of money you could borrow from a bank.

(5) Apply for a home equity line of credit. If you own your own home, apply for a home quity line of credit. This will determine how much extra money you may have available. If you don't own a home, find someone who does and who would be willing to work with you in real estate investing. Then find how much money they could borrow on their home equity.

(6) Find other sources of money. After you've identified how much money you can borrow through traditional sources, it's time to discover how much money you can borrow through nontraditional sources, such as friends or relatives. The more money you can access right away, the faster you can move when you spot a real estate bargain.

(7) Review how promissory notes work. Promissory notes are legal documents that let you borrow from other people. A promissory note is no different than a traditional bank loan. You need a lawyer to help you write a promissory note. It's a valuable tool that can help you borrow money quickly from sources other than banks. The more you understand how promissory notes work, the more they can work to your advantage.

Patent Your Invention Help

By Gordon Graham

You probably hear the word 'patent' in court cases when two companies are fighting over some designs or products. Patent is the right of an inventor or creator of a product or design that prevents others from using, copying, or selling their invention or creation for a period of time. Any abstract concepts or theories, which have not yet been concretized, cannot have a patent.

You need to know that getting a patent is a very long process and may take years before you can get what you are requesting for. It is also very expensive. But think about the big profits, which you will earn from your creation.

Also, requests for patent are not always granted. In these cases, you should ask for appeal. To discuss more on how to get a patent, read the following steps.

You should have a design or an invention that is really original. It should not be a mere copy or imitation of another invention. It should be something that you can call your own.

And you have to make sure about your product's originality to avoid the hassle of undergoing the long, tedious process of patenting only to find out later that your supposed-to-be original design or creation has been invented before by some unknown person several years ago.

Prepare all the necessary creative requirements such as the drawing of your design and the presentation on how your creation works.

You cannot request for a patent by yourself. You should seek the help of a professional who is an expert on these matters-a patent attorney. Of course, the professional fee varies from one attorney t another.

However expect a high professional fee. He will be the one to represent you in front of the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) of the United States and he will be the one to explain your case before this organization.

Review the guidelines in applying for a patent. You can see this in the official website of the PTO. File your application and pay the required fees.

The decision might take a few years, and sometimes your application is still not approved. For a disapproved application, you can still make an appeal but of course you will have to pay for another set of fees.

2. Aged persons (age 65 and older). Blind persons (blindness is determined using the SSI program standards or state standards).
3. Disabled persons (disability is determined using the SSI program standards or state standards).

SPECIAL GROUPS Medicare Beneficiaries who qualify under #8221Medicaid are paid Medicare premiums, deductibles and coinsurance. These people are termed as Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMB). This determination will be based upon whether or not you could have been eligible during those three months. Naturally, if your circumstances improve and you become ineligible, your coverage will cease at the end of the month during which the improvement happened. A lot of states have a astate-onlya program in that supplements Medicaid. This program is especially designed to provide medical assistance to people who fall through the cracks. These are the people who have limited resources and income but canat qualify for the Medicaid program. This sort of state-only program does not get any Federal funding.

Mainly, the people who are eligible for getting Medicaid are people with low income levels or families with low household income as stated in the rules and eligibility requirements set by the state you are a resident in. You need to meet these requirements in order to qualify for the Medicaid insurance coverage.

So, before you apply for Medicaid, the best thing that you can do is check with your state laws regarding the rules and eligibility requirements on getting Medicaid.

Make the Power Company Pay You By Developing Your Own Energy

By Michael Fleischner

Is the idea of becoming your own creator of green energy something that excites you? Well your not the only one. More and more individuals are turning to their own energy production in order to lower expenses and be kind to the environment. The good news is that doing so is easier than its ever been thanks to the help of simple to follow instructional guides and resources.

If you want to have less of an impact on the environment, then building your own source of energy is ideal. Many people want to take better care of the environment but are afraid to start. But that's not always true. More individual home owners are venturing out on their own to create independent energy sources that can break their dependence on paying more and more to large power companies.

One of the most common forms of alternative energy is wind energy. Harvesting the power of the wind and converting it to power is more common than ever. This is due to the ease at which wind turbines can be created and deployed for generating electricity on a daily basis. Much of this power can be stored and utilized when necessary. There are a number of resources available today for creating wind turbines for personal use at very low cost.

Solar panels are also a common source of green energy. Solar panels take the energy of the sun and converts that energy into electricity. Even though solar panels have been around for many years, they have improved their power and efficiency most significantly in the past 2 - 3 years. Building your own solar panels is also very easy if you have good documentation and access to the right parts for assembly. When used in conjunction with other energy sources, solar panels are a great way to achieve energy independence.

There are a number of options for anyone interested in generating electricity or power using solar energy. Long gone are the days of expensive solar panels that cost thousands and require professional installation. Building and installing your own solar panels is easy to do and requires only basic parts. Furthermore, building your panels for less than a few hundred dollars is not only possible, it's the norm. So before you dismiss the possibility of using solar to generate electricity for your home, consider a DIY kit that provides the guidance for finding solar parts and building your own green energy resource.

If you've ever considered developing your own energy or doing your part to save the environment, then energy creation is your ticket to freedom. Don't be overly concerned or worried about getting started. There are plenty of resources available to help you acquire the proper materials and start building your power generators. The most important thing to do is to get started today. Energy independence won't be given to you. Find a place to start. This could be as easy as building your own solar panels or wind turbines. The energy you create will be green, saving you money and the environment.

When looking for a do-it-yourself guide, be sure to find one that meets the following criteria: A detailed instruction booklet, how to videos, a checklist of required parts, an estimate of all related costs, and resources for finding components and scaling your energy generation system. Most importantly, be sure that the site you're purchasing form offers online or phone support as well as a money back guarantee. Doing so makes good business sense and can get you off to a good start.

What you should know about your pet's medicines

By Cheryl L. True

Pet medications are available either by prescription or over-the-counter. The latter means that anyone may purchase the medicine without the consent or advice of veterinary doctor. In short, no prescription is needed.

A prescription medication is one that Food and Drug Administration regulations allow to be obtained only by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Commonly, pet owners will ask a veterinarian for a written prescription for medications in order to procure those medicines from a source other than the examining veterinarian. Veterinarians are ethically bound to provide a written prescription upon the patient's request and to document the data in the pet's medical record.

The veterinarian may ethically charge a fee for writing the prescription and that prescription writing fee can be whatever the veterinarian chooses. The bottom line is that the client does not have to obtain or purchase the pet medication from the examining veterinarian.

Keep in mind that the veterinarian is not required to call, fax or correspond with the pet owner's supplier; but that person is ethically obligated to provide a written prescription so that the patient can obtain the medication at a supplier of his or her own choosing.

Some non-prescription medications are "sold only to licensed veterinarians". This is a company policy and not mandated by law. It is not illegal for a veterinarian to re-sell non-prescription medications to other pharmacies or outlets; nor is it illegal for another business to sell these non-prescription products.

All pet medications should be treated with respect. Keep in mind that individual animals may have an adverse reaction to just about any medication.

Your veterinarian should always be your first source of information about pet health care. Years of special training and a commitment to keeping your pet healthy will work to your advantage whenever your pet needs care or medications.

Someone who can help you to eliminate most of the pitfalls that can possibly lead you to business failure. Here are some suggestions to help you along the way:

To get started towards profiting from the web, find out a proper niche for your business. Just in case you dont know what niche means. You basically want to be in a business that you are familiar and comptable with. When you have created this niche, develop your business around this niche. Decide whether you are going to exercise a small business or are you going to do an all out big business.

For marketing your business you must know your targeted audience and market. Do the proper homework before starting your business and make sure you do have a business plan. Be creative, innovative and focused to your goal while making the business plan. Market your business as much as you can because there are so many places to market.

It is important to take care of your business as if it were a bigger business regardless of the size. Keep these thoughts and a business plan in position so that you can know exactly where you're heading. And the most important aspect is to be patient, strong-minded and entirely devoted. It is mandatory for you to work very hard and hand over a lot of quality hours from your day to your business.

Keep in mind that some of the things we might think we need for our business may not be necessary. I'm not trying to say you need to be cheap but you have to watch your expenses along the way as you focus on your profitable business.

Handling your business can be hard work and it takes time. The good thing about it though is the fact you can start very small and grow at your own pace. You don't have to look rich, you don't have to spend a lot of money, and you can do great with a very small expense and a lot of work.

To sum it all up is that a business doesn't need all the expenses of a normal business. You don't need a huge office. You can work from any place, as long as you have a good computer, an internet connection and motivation to take immediate action.

Dealing with canine arthritis

By Cheryl L. True

Arthritis doesn't discriminate. It affects not only people of all ages -- including children -- but strikes man's best friend too.

If you're a dog owner, you take great pains in caring for your pet. Naturally, any change in behavior is suspect. If your dog exhibits changes in mood and activity or isn't feeling well, you might think it has a cold or stomach virus. Buy you may be wrong and it could be arthritis.

Arthritis affects one in every five adult dogs in the United States. It is one of the most common sources of chronic pain that veterinarians treat.

How do you know if it's arthritis? Your dog can't tell you what's wrong so it's important to watch his non-verbal cues closely and take subtle changes seriously.

Signs that your dog may have arthritis are favoring a limb when moving, difficulty sitting or standing, sleeping more, stiff or sore joints, hesitancy to jump, run or climb stairs, weight gain, decreased activity or less interest in play, attitude or behavior changes and being less alert.

If your dog has any of these symptoms for more than two weeks, see a veterinarian for arthritis evaluation which will involve a physical exam and possibly X-rays. Get a diagnosis and start a treatment plan as soon as possible. Treating canine arthritis is similar to that of human arthritis.

Depending on your dog's condition, therapies may include the following:

A healthy diet and exercise to help maintain proper weight.

Drug treatment to relieve pain usually in the form of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Over-the-counter pet treatments such as pills or food containing either glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate or omega fatty acids. These may help relieve the symptoms of arthritis.

Never give your dog human medication without checking with your veterinarian first. Certain medications that are safe to us can be toxic to dogs - particularly acetaminophen and ibuprofen. A safe dose will differ between a greyhound and a dachshund.

No matter how you treat your dog's arthritis, work closely with a reliable veterinarian to ensure that your pet recovers quickly.

If your dog or cat suffers from arthritis pain, don't make it suffer any longer. Relieve joint pain, lubricate the joints, increase flexibility and improve mobility with the right Dog Osteoarthritis Medicine .

Giving global attention to your high school baseball prospects and standings

By Steven Summers

You may be thinking about college and want to play ball to cut tuition expenses or even get your education for free. You'll need more than luck because everybody wants a scholarship. If you are going to attract the attention of college recruiters, you'll have to compete as hard as any game.

The Internet offers one of the best ways to connect to college recruiters. Online, you can share your high school baseball prospects and high school baseball standings with the entire world. Often, that's where many of the very recruiters you're hoping to attract will look. You had better impress them.

Let's be realistic. There are lots of players in the running for scholarships. You need to look your best. You need a professional video made of your greatest sporting achievements, the kind you can show to any recruiter to open the door. Many high school athletes choose to hire a professional team to showcase their talent with the same video technology as the pros.

Even the very best high school baseball prospects and high school baseball standings don't compare to when they've seen you in action. Standings may tell the type of athlete you are, but they don' t show your spirit, the very thing recruiters are looking for. Your performance at the bat or on the pitcher's mound is where the real game is. No statistic is complete without a sports video that shows the spirit of the athlete.

Plus, if you upload your sports video to an online site, you'll be able to share your greatest moments with family and friends, anywhere in the world. You can let them appreciate your moment of glory as if they were right on the sidelines.

With a professionally made sports video, your game will look clean and slick with the greatest video production technologies possible. It's great for recruiters and shows off your best to friends and family.

The Internet is also a great place to network, which is very important to landing sports scholarships. Nobody will know how good you are until you get your game out to the world and those colleges can see you in action.

With your game on the Internet, you'll get recognition for your athletics, not only from family and friends, but the people who sign the scholarships. You can network with other players and get in touch with college recruiters. Thanks to the Internet, your game can be nationally recognized, opening the door for colleges, scholarships, and even the major leagues.

Personal Injury Protection Bill Review

By Lucille Green

Accidents on the road are a fact of life, not matter how good a driver you are so isn't it a good idea to look after yourself with a personal injury protection plan? Most people also have other responsibilities; those of a financial nature and family members that will need to be provided for. Personal injury protection or PIP may be a part of a larger personal insurance plan or a specific plan in itself. With the growing number of insurance plans on the market, all of which sound necessary, each family has to weigh up the benefits against the additional financial strain that can be imposed by adding it.

When the cover is taken out in hast it is often found to be unsuitable and not worth continuing. Not every state has made this law yet but a few have although the amount of protection does vary considerably. This disparity is best illustrated by the huge difference in cover required by citizens in Alaska compared to those Florida where ten times as much is needed. If you live in a state where personal injury protection has not been made law yet, that does not mean you should wait until it is!

The cover will pay around 80 percent (depending on the plan) of the costs of the insured and passengers. There are some expensive items covered by this plan, which will pay out even if the policy holder is to blame, including medical costs for the driver and people in the vehicle with him. This is a good reason why it is worth checking existing insurance plans to see if any of these areas are already protected, which should, in theory, lower any additional plan you take out. It could be that the cost of lost wages and medical bills may be recovered through an existing health insurance policy.

Depending on the plan, you may not require any additional cover or only minimal in the worst case scenario. There are some other factors to consider though as to whether you actually need personal injury protection; one being your current driving record. What many drivers do not realize is that although they may be covered by their own health insurance for medical bills, other passengers, unless they are named on the policy, probably will not be.

Personal injury protection will still be required if you find that other passengers are not covered or the level of cover is so low it is almost a waste of time. Any passenger in your vehicle should feel safe so it is the driver's responsibility to ensure this is the case. For your own peace of mind you should want to make sure that even if your state does not make it mandatory to provide personal injury protection, you should feel obliged too. Your personal circumstances will dictate just how much insurance you need so the better your health is and the less claims you have made, will help to reduce the policy costs overall.

Younger drivers however, do not fair so well if they are inexperienced with little insurance cover in place but they are often in greater need of good health insurance cover to protect themselves and any family they have. Accidents unfortunately happen but before you rush into buying insurance cover, look into the subject as it could save you some money but more importantly will make you feel more secure when you drive with passengers.

Tips To Find A Comfortable Suit

By Victor B. Sancharo

Finding a comfortable suit to wear to work or church can be stressful for many men. However, this process can be made easier by following a few simple guidelines.

Consider where you will be wearing the suit. If you will be wearing it every day to work, you may want to buy one. If you just need it for a special occasion, such as a formal gathering (weddings, etc.), you may want to rent a suit that matches the situation.

If you do decide to buy a suit, make sure that you consider the accessories you'll need. For a work suit, for example, you may need cufflinks, a matching shirt and tie, and maybe even a coordinating pocket square. Be sure to find these accessories before you plan on wearing the suit. This will help you feel more comfortable and prepared.

If you are renting a suit instead, the occasion must be taken into account. Make certain that you know if your suit needs to match other people's outfits. For example, if you are a groomsman in a wedding, your suit needs to match the garments of the other groomsmen and the bridesmaids.

Again, planning ahead like this will help you feel more relaxed and confident when you wear the suit. When you shop for the suit, bring along a trusted friend or relative. He or she will be able to give you good advice about what looks good on you. Having a second opinion can be invaluable, and you'll have a much better time going shopping in the company of someone who knows you well.

When you're looking for your suit, you'll want to consider the kind of material that would best fit your needs. Do you need something machine washable, or would you prefer to have your suit dry cleaned? Similarly, you'll want to make sure that you like the pattern of the suit's material, so that you're comfortable wearing it in public.

One of the most important things about your suit is the fit. If necessary, hire a tailor to make sure that it fits just right in the shoulders, and that the cuffs of your pants fall in a comfortable fashion.

Finding the right suit for you does not have to be a nerve-racking experience. In fact, wearing a suit in which you are comfortable should make you feel relaxed and confident.

Adult School Vs Community College

By Carrie Hull

I recently attended an adult school in the business sector. Looking from the outside in, the program I was interested in looked like a great program. It seemed to out do the college programs I had tried in that fact that it was concise and implemented only necessary classes.

The community college I had previously attended was 3 years long and consisted of many classes that seemed to be filler classes. While there, I seemed to be wasting my time with breaks in between classes, which were sometimes 3 hours long.

The community college had beginning dates in September and January, but still only offered specific classes in each semester. It seemed I didn't have much of a choice when and how the classes were attended. Basically, I felt like my life was being controlled by this school for three years.

Some days, we would begin early, and some days not till noon. Other days, we would work late or finish early. Keeping a part time job and going to school was stressful and confusing. It was difficult to keep classes, exams, assignments, and work hours all in order.

I decided to go back to school after I was unable to get a job in my field. I was a little wiser this time around. I had decided to go to and adult school for the main reason it took only 8 months to complete and still came out with a diploma. If I had chosen to go back to community college it would take 2 years.

I loved this school classes began at 8am and ended at 1pm everyday. There were small breaks during classes in which we were allowed to leave and come back. The programs were concise and to the point.

I really liked the way the adult school organized the courses. It was one subject at a time. We would work on that subject for usually two weeks straight and then on to another. I didn't have to worry about conflicting assignments or tests. I really enjoyed that.

At the adult education center there was an employment specialist who would work with us. She would show us how to write a resume and even performed mock interviews. It was great. She showed the perspective of the employer to help us get an edge over the competition.

I spent one year at university before community college and it was terrible. There was like 300 people in my class and the teacher did not even know my name. It was the worst experience I had with education.

I rank the first one I attended, university, the worst. It was a lot like the community college except the class sizes were larger. The community college is second, because of the ability to get to know your classmates and teachers. The adult education center is first because of all the reason above; class size, flexibility, time to complete, and daily schedule.

Dealing With Adult Dyslexia

By John Thompson

Dyslexia is really only a learning disability, and it happens in both children and adults. One of the most telling characteristics is the difficulty in reading, especially when it comes to reading. Many neurologists have tracked one of the root causes of the disorder to be rooted in the brain and how it processes and understands spoken and written language. This doesn't mean that you are less intelligent. You can work around it. One thing that you have to learn about the disorder is that there are many types of dyslexia, and they are all categorized.

Dyslexia is a lifelong issue that you work with your whole life. It affects work, family, friends and even their daily routines. It is necessary to learn to cope with adult dyslexia to be as efficient as possible. Although it is a lifelong condition, it is a treatable disorder.

Dyslexics continue to battle with their disability until adulthood if they were not given the proper diagnosis and treatment when they were younger. Looking for a job is sometimes very difficult for them and once they started working, things like being organized at work, dealing with numbers, writing memos, taking notes and remembering meetings are difficult to handle. This is not because they are not suited for the job but this is because they do not know how to deal with their disability. They can have fulfilling lives if they know how to cope with adult dyslexia.

The downside is that there is no cure to end the condition but, there are many forms of structured learning and therapy that can help these individuals to learn how to write and read on their own. One of the ways is to leverage on structured learning like specialized phonics classes that focus on the reading deficits and improve on them.

Starting early, you can get your child in special classes. Children can also be exposed to a more engaging classroom environment, where teachers are trained to use games and the element of fun when teaching through textbooks, which can improve the attention and learning abilities of these children. More effective training and teaching methods can be given by teachers who have known and mild dyslexics within the school population.

The strategy involves learning to read on a word by word level. This mean not looking at full sentences. By doing this, the requirements must be fulfilled where they can master the skills needed to correctly pronounce each and every word and associated the correct sounds with speech/word correlation. There are also, in existence, many alternative therapies that are available for developmental and learning disabilities like dyslexia and they can include anything from special nutritional diets, osteopathy manipulation and homeopathy; just to name a few. So in learning disability dyslexia, these are some aspects you need to know.

The Oceanic Love Phase of a Relationship

By Johnnie S Laney

The very first phase when you fall in love is called "Oceanic Love." You know all about this phase. It can be called the "There's Only You" phase. There is all this pleasure, love and joy. The sex is marvelous, we spend all our spare time together, it's great.

In this phase we tend to think about our mate all the time. All we want to really do is be with them. We imagine we could make love to them for days. All that they do seems cute and lovable to us.

This is what psychologists call the oceanic love phase of the relationship. It lasts six months or so. It is a powerful bonding experience. During this phase we shower our partner with attention. We think about them a lot, write love notes, go out on romantic dates, tear off each others clothes and make passionate love a lot. It doesn't matter so much what we do together, just that we have plenty of time together.

Of course, this period is a favorite for all of us. We feel "merged" and at times one with our mate. We know what love is and this is it. Our love can actually feel oceanic at times.

Fortunately and unfortunately, we must move out of this phase before too long. It's gotta happen. Despite what the movies make us believe, we don't get to live happily ever after, at least not in that phase. As much as we romanticize it, it is just one stage of relationship.

While the oceanic love phase is fantastic, it can actually create some problems for us later on that can kill the relationship. It creates problems because that feeling of deep love and connection changes.

We don't understand that it is normal to move out of this phase and feel less oceanic love and merging with our partner. When this happens, we feel that something is wrong, and can start to think our lover is no longer the one for us.

In actuality, we are just moving into the next phase of love relationships, which is the me/us phase. Here we get back somewhat to our own goals and needs in life. This is important. So don't make the mistake of comparing your current relationship phase with oceanic love and you can avoid some of the pitfalls couples fall into.

Rumored Buzz on Panic Attack Cure Exposed

By James Redder

A panic attack is a symptom of an anxiety disorder that has emotional and physical symptoms. A panic attack is one of the most intrusive problems you can have. Although not a one hundred percent answer, research has discovered that a large number of people who experience panic attacks carry the gene DUP25. This article has been written with the intention to show panic attack sufferers that there are options available to them in dealing with these incidents.

If you are prepared for an attack, in particular what to look for, then you will be able to deal with it better. It is quite normal for a panic attack sufferer to have problems breathing caused by their throat tightening up and suffering pains in their chest. This feeling of panic may increase because they're heart starts racing and dizziness follows combined with bad thoughts and worries which make them feel if something real bad is going to happen. The fear cycle feeds itself increasing the effect of the panic attack on the victim.

The feeling of chest pain merely makes the situation worse and increases the fear leading to full scale panic attack. The prescription medication the doctor will supply is based on how often the attacks occur and there severity.

The fear that you no longer have a grasp on what's real is a psychological symptom which often accompanies the physical ones. If you experience these symptoms then you should seek out the help of your doctor. Sometimes it can be the fear of doing something that you haven't done for a while that sets off a panic attack, when you do not feel confident about carrying out a specific task.

Part of your regime to reduce the number and severity of panic attacks is your eating habits which means that you should maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly and reduce the number of situations which could cause you stress. Although not the ideal solution, in the short term, medication created to reduce panic attack symptoms can help.

While a number of attacks can usually be controlled by the sufferer, there are those severe panic attacks that require medication which would have to be prescribed by your doctor. Natural Homeopathic and Herbal Remedies are available for many health conditions including natural treatments for anxiety and panic attack treatments. Other techniques that can help you to stop a panic attack include forced muscle relaxation, yoga, music, as well as exercise.

Medication may have it place but in the long term it is controlling the attacks yourself which will be the solution that will be the most effective.
